BLACK WALNUT- zone 4-9 - Valuable dark wood, Rot Resistant, Fast Growth on Well Drained Loam soil, Good for Riparian Buffers, as Beavers don't like Walnut Bark, Good Tasting Seeds.

BUTTERNUT- zone 4-9 - Walnut family. Medium size 50' tree. Fast Growth on Well Drained Loam soil,  Oily Tasting Seeds enjoyed by animals but usually not by people. Effected by canker diseases in most areas.

SWAMP BUR OAK HYBRID-Zone 4-8 - Large round topped, survives in wet lowlands even with roots underwater for weeks at a time, very large sweet acorns, good for riparian buffers, Iowa trees.  Fast growth.

PIN OAK- Zone 4-7 - large pyramidal tree, native along bottomlands that frequently flood, not a good lumber tree, small acorns for wildlife.
